The Brief: Create a vector illustration in a graphic style
Role: illustrator and lettering artist responsible for concept, design, and implementation of all lettering and illustration.
Tools Used: Procreate app, iPad Pro, Apple pencil.
As a fun exploration of vector shapes and vector artwork, I watched a tutorial with illustrator Owen Davey and decided to create a complex vector illustration using bartenders as an inspiration. I created thumbnails and sketches of various layouts, and selected an exaggerated viewpoint where the cocktail was large and in the center of the illustration. Framing the central bartender and drink mixing portion, I added garnishes for cocktails, as well as finished cocktails in lots of glass shapes, and lots of bottles of alcohol. Smaller detail images were created of the various cocktails and bottles. This project was a fun exploration in different shapes and the beauty of glassware, cocktails, and the bartending trade.
