The Brief: To create a fun and playful banner at 2’x6’ for the Vicksburg Farmers’ Market to greet visitors as they entered

Role: illustrator and lettering artist responsible for concept, design, and implementation of all lettering and illustration.

Tools Used: Procreate app, iPad Pro, Photoshop, Apple pencil.

The City of Vicksburg and the Vicksburg Main Street program from Vicksburg MS reached out to me to create a fun and lively illustration to print on a banner for their local farmers’ market. The brief was to create something playful and in the spirit of attracting a younger audience and to match the fun vibe of the market. The foods drawn on the banner show the local fruit, vegetables, baked goods, and prepared foods that are available each week at this local market. I created three sketches using the food illustrations they requested, adding in hand-drawn lettering and some puns of course! The client was so happy with all three and ended up picking one for the final farmers’ market illustration. The end illustration was printed at large scale of 2 feet by 6 feet and hung over the entrances of the market for all to see. A great project, I’m very happy with the end result and the client loved it.
