Food Alphabet Illustration Series and Flashcards

Letters A through I food alphabet series, featuring hand-drawn lettering of each letter and 8-10 food illustrations of foods starting with each letter of the alphabet.

The Brief: To create an alphabet illustration featuring a letter of the alphabet combined with foods that started with that letter

Role: Graphic designer and illustrator responsible for concept, design, and implementation of all lettering and illustration.

Tools Used: Procreate app, iPad Pro, Apple pencil.

I’d had a sketch of the letter A sitting in my drawer for over a year and kept meaning to start this series, but then both 36 Days of Type and Lisa Bardot’s Making Art Everyday groups decided that March 2020 would be the month that they ran daily challenges for the alphabet. I pulled out my sketch and made an alphabet illustration for each day in the month of March to complete letters A-Z, pairing hand-drawn lettering drop caps of each letter A through Z with 8-10 food illustrations for each letter. This was a fun project that I’d been meaning to complete for a long time and I’m glad I had a push to get it done in a month.
