Cute food illustration by Jennifer Hines. Japanese food makes me happy, so I illustrated happy Japanese food in this food artwork.
The Brief: To create an illustration of my happy foods for the They Draw and Cook Illustrators for Hire challenge
Role: Graphic designer and illustrator responsible for concept, design, and implementation of all lettering and illustration.
Tools Used: Procreate app, iPad Pro, Apple pencil.
Japanese food is always a treat for me, probably because I can’t make it nearly as well as they can at the restaurant and don’t have access to amazing sushi-grade fish. When I want a treat or a meal to cheer me up or commemorate a special occasion, I’ll order Japanese food. So when Illustrators for Hire for the They Draw and Cook website put out a challenge for Happy Foods, I had to create some Japanese food, giving it smiles to show how happy it can be. This cute food artwork includes food illustration and lettering.
I also created another illustration of sushi in the past, and thought it complemented this happy Japanese food artwork. Sushi is definitely fun to draw!

Another fun sushi illustration created that reveals how much I’m inspired by Japanese food and aesthetics.
