The Brief: To create an illustration on each daily prompt for January 2021, put together by Lisa Bardot for Making Art Everyday.

Role: Illustrator responsible for concept, design, and implementation of all lettering and illustration.

Tools Used: Procreate app, iPad Pro, Apple pencil.

I love drawing food, so when Lisa Bardot posted the 2021 Making Art Everyday prompts, I decided to follow along. Week 3 was meals, so I created simple recipe illustrations for each of the meal items, researching the food to find a recipe in my collection or on the web that I thought would illustrate well and be tasty. Each recipe illustration was then animated to create a fun moving gif image that I could post on Instagram and reveal the recipe steps in a more fun way than a static image alone. Afterwards, I created variations of each in the size and format for the They Draw and Cook website, so these are also featured on their site in my profile of recipe illustrations that I’ve submitted.
