The Brief: To create a book cover design for a travel guide on street food

Role: Illustrator responsible for concept, design, and implementation of all lettering and illustration.

Tools Used: Procreate app, iPad Pro, Apple pencil, Photoshop.

I love drawing book covers and food, and with lettering thrown in too, this project contains all of my favorite things. Created as a personal project, this book cover combines fun food illustration, colorful patterns, and hand-drawn lettering. I began by creating three sketches for possible directions, and selected the second option with hands reaching in holding food because it felt more dynamic and joyful. I next created hand-lettering, drawing the title and subtitle using hand-drawn letterforms. Lastly, I illustrated the foods and characters to create a final and colorful cover.
